It's very hard to get an appointment

It's hard to get an appointment. When you do manage to book in you see different doctors every time and my experience varies depending on who I see. Some of the doctors very good but there are some who do not quite meet my needs.

Told to go home and look online!

I went to the doctor for advice about symptoms I was experiencing following an operation. I was seen by a nurse practitioner who told me to look online. They were absolutely useless.

Told by receptionists to go to the pharmacy

I attended the surgery to get a doctors appointment, I was unwell and I knew from my medical training that I needed antibiotics for a chest infection. The receptionist was extremely unhelpful and told me to go to the pharmacy for treatment. I refused and told her I needed to see a doctor. After some discussion they found me an appointment for two hours later. As I suspected I did have a chest infection and needed antibiotics. I have no complaints about the doctor I saw who was very good.

Nightmare trying to get an appointment

It's near on impossible to get through on the phone to book an appointment, the lines are always busy. If you do manage to get through all the appointments are gone. I have been unable to get a face to face appointment since covid and I am only ever offered a telephone consultation. They are no better when a child needs to see a doctor.

Got a same day face to face appointment

I called for an appointment to discuss dementia with my GP. Was pleasantly surprised to be offered a same day appointment. The doctor was very nice and spent a lot of time talking to me about my symptoms and concerns. I was very happy with the service.

Long wait for locum doctor

I managed to book an appointment but could only get in with a locum. I had quite a wait, and the receptionist told me that the doctor was having car problems but would be with me soon. When the doctor arrived they apologised and explained they had had to attend an emergency dental appointment. I told them that the receptionist had told me a different story. I was attending due to mental health problems and the locum was very kind. I felt that they really listened to me and made me feel comfortable. They prescribed me a new anti-depressant to try.

Could have been better

I attended the GP and was prescribed medication. The pharmacy dispensed the incorrect medication and I unknowingly took it for 8 days during which time I became very unwell. I returned to the GP but they did not consider the medication as a reason for my symptoms despite my blood pressure being sky high.

This surgery has recently improved

I have noticed a slight improvement in accessing a GP at the surgery. Appointments I have been able to book have been with locums or new doctors. I have not seen my own doctor for a few years now. The problem with booking appointments is that you have to tell the receptionists what the problem is for them to decide if your problem is important enough to be seen. It is not always easy to discuss things over the phone with the reception if you are not somewhere private. I do think that the attitudes of the reception staff has improved. In the past I have found them to be quite rude and abrupt.

They always try to help

I have found the surgery to be very good. They are much better than my last doctors surgery. I recently called at 12pm an d they called back. When they are unable to offer you an appointment at the surgery they will refer you somewhere else and try their best to help. They are very good with children and very understanding when I have to bring both my children to appointments.

Outstanding service from excellent team

I recently moved the this surgery and hadn't seen a doctor face to face for some years despite every effort. I had a medical with a nurse very quickly and had an ecg. The nurse was concerned and made an appointment for me the following day with a doctor. The doctor repeated the ECG and I went sent straight to the hospital where a serious heart problem was detected. When I was discharged the follow up care provided by the doctors was excellent. They have been very thorough and have made urgent referrals for me to help improve my health conditions. I have medication reviews and diabetes checks booked in the coming days. I am extremely happy with the quality of care and treatment I have received here.
