Waiting over 6 hours with heart concerns

September 27, 2024
I spent over 6 hours waiting to be seen in Heartlands Accident and Emergency Department, having attended due to heart problems. During that time I had to sit on a hard chair in pain and distress.

Excellent ICU care

September 26, 2024
My husband was treated in the ICU at Heartlands Hospital. The care was very good, our family felt well informed and reassured about his condition and the treatment he was receiving.

Good emergency care

September 26, 2024
I received very good emergency care and treatment following a serious road traffic accident. I was then admitted to a ward for recovery where care again was good. Basic physiotherapy helped. My only concern was that nothing was put in place or arranged for my recovery post discharge.

Cardiac rehabilitation has been amazing but wish it came sooner

September 25, 2024
After having stents fitted I was referred for assessment for cardiac rehabilitation which has been great so far. The staff have been amazing and I only wish I’d been referred for this sooner when I had my first cardiac event in 2008. This would have helped me to stay active and not be so frightened to move which led to an increase in weight, reduced lifestyle and 16 years later having stents fitted. What worries me is what happens to patients who are not assessed for this activity and what is the criteria used to decide who has cardiac rehabilitation and who doesn’t!

Poor follow on care after operation

September 23, 2024
Care was initially very good, I attended the hospital and was operated on within 3 days. I was told that I would need a follow up appointment, nearly 2 years later I have still not had this appointment which is a concern. I have complained to PALs and sought help from my GP, but I am still waiting for the appointment. This has been very disappointing and I am very frustrated.

No wheelchairs available

September 18, 2024
There were no wheelchairs available when I visited recently. I was late to my appointment as I was stood propped up on a rail waiting for a porter to be sent to help me. I wasn't even able to sit down as the seats were too low.
