Seen quickly in A&E

June 3, 2025
I was sent to Heartlands A&E by my GP. I was seen very quickly and triaged. I was then directed to another department in the hospital. I was satisfied with the care I received in A&E and impressed with how quickly I was seen.

Very good reasonable adjustments in A&E

June 3, 2025
My recent experience of care at Heartlands A&E department was very good. I was triaged very quickly and explained that I have ASD. I was given somewhere quiet to wait, away from the busy waiting room. They really did take great care of me and look after me.

Good cancer treatment and follow on care

June 3, 2025
My experience of care and treatment at Heartlands Hospital has been good. I have completed treatment for bowel cancer and now have to attend regular follow on check ups. My treatment went very well. The problems I have encountered are that the parking is very difficult and there are often no wheelchairs available which makes my visits a real struggle.

Not waiting long and kept comfortable

I went to A&E with a broken ankle. I was seen in good time, given pain relief and kept comfortable. The care was good overall.

Good maternity care

June 3, 2025
My experience of maternity care at Heartlands Hospital was good. I had a planned c-section due to gestational diabetes. My antenatal care was very good and the delivery also went well. I cannot fault the doctors or midwives. My only concern was that I was put on a ward close to women who were experiencing miscarriage. This was a horrible environment to be in for those poor women and for those of us who were not experiencing miscarriage. I think its very insensitive to put women in such a situation.

Good care but poor communication from SDEC

June 3, 2025
My experience of care from the SDEC team was very good. I was referred there from A&E and I was seen very quickly. It was explained to me that I could go home and that they would arrange for a CT scan as an outpatient within 24 hours. They did arrange the appointment and I had the CT scan just over 24 hours later. My only concern is that I was seen by the SDEC team after the CT scan and was told that everything looked good/normal. I found out at a later appointment at another hospital that I did in fact have gall stones and they had shown up on the CT scan. It was very disappointing that I was told by staff in SDEC that everything was fine and that it was missed.

Refused ambulance as they would bring me here

June 2, 2025
I recently avoided calling an ambulance when there were concerns around my blood pressure as they would take me to Heartlands and I don't trust the care they provide.

Dreadful hospital

May 30, 2025
This hospital is dreadful. During my last visit there were safety concerns with all the doors being locked due to an aggressive patient running around in A&E. The staff aren't nice either. The receptionists are unhelpful and lack compassion. I was waiting for 10 days to get in and then I was sent home without being seen properly.
