Admitted for seven weeks

October 31, 2024
I was admitted to Heartlands Hospital for seven weeks. I was very unwell and was finally diagnosed with gall stones. An operation was scheduled but was cancelled a number of times due to junior doctors strikes. Care in the hospital was good.

No wheelchairs for patients

October 28, 2024
Appointments have gone very well here, I have been happy with the care. Directions could be made clearer on signs as the hospital is very big. Getting around is difficult walking with my sticks but I did manage just had to take it very slowly.

Ward 6 staff unable to uphold patient dignity

September 30, 2024
The level of care received on ward 6 at Heartlands Hospital was awful. There was a clear staffing problem. When I needed the toilet I was told there was no one to take me, and I was told to soil myself and that someone would 'clean me up'. I found this completely undignified. I had to rely on my family during visiting times to help care for me. My experience on this ward was appalling.

Dear Patient

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about Heartlands Hospital – apologies for the delayed response. We are really sorry to hear that you are so unhappy with the care you received on Ward 6 - in particular the lack of support when you needed the toilet, that staff did not respect your dignity and that you were so reliant on your family for basic care during visiting times.

If you think it’s helpful and appropriate we are keen to listen to your concerns in more detail and to try to help if there are any outstanding issues - or things we can learn from. Awful care from A&E department

September 28, 2024
My experience at Heartlands Hospital's Accident and Emergency Department was awful! I have a pre-existing genetic heart condition, and I became unwell with chest pains and a racing heart. I was taken to the A&E by my parents but the staff sent me to the Badger Clinic and did not even assess me.
