Excellent treatment from HDU

August 29, 2024
I was transferred to Heartlands Hospital following an operation at another hospital. I spent time in HDU before being transferred to another ward for physio and rehabilitation. I have been very happy with the care I have received.

Excellent inpatient care following a fall

August 29, 2024
I have been brought in twice in recent months following bad falls at home. I have no complaints about the A&E department. I did spend some time waiting but care was good in a private bay before being transferred to wards.

I find this hospital difficult to get to but it is the only option in the area for a C-section.

Closely monitored in maternity department

August 27, 2024
I needed to visit the maternity department for an emergency scan. I found it difficult to return to this hospital after a bad experience in the past following a lost pregnancy but the staff were brilliant. I was monitored very closely throughout my time here.

C-section and aftercare experience was great

August 27, 2024
My planned C-section went well and the aftercare was great. The midwives were fantastic and did so much for me, I can't fault them.

Poor physio service during admission

August 23, 2024
Following a fall I was admitted to Heartlands Hospital for an operation to repair my broken femur. The operation went well. The aftercare could have been better. I was there for four days. The nurses were okay, the doctors had very little time for their patients and were in and out very quickly. The physio team were not great. Two physio staff yanked me out of bed on one occasion and really hurt me, so much that I screamed out in pain. They did not seem to have the time or patience to explain anything to me about how to do things or why we needed to do them. I made very little progress in there.

Awful A&E experience

July 26, 2024
The wait for care at Heartlands A&E department is just awful. I went at 1pm and did not get a bed until 7am the next morning. While waiting I spent hours cold, hungry and with nowhere to sleep. I asked if there were any pillows or blankets only to be told there were none. It has got to be one of the worst A&E departments in the country!
