It's boring being stuck in hospital

October 30, 2023
Staying in hospital is really boring when your a kid. There's not really much to do when your 12. One of the nurses was really nice, he was funny and made me and my mum laugh a lot. They let one of my friends visit me which I was really happy about. The worst part was when they kept waking me up in the middle of the night to check on me and put me on the machines. It was annoying.

Awful experience

October 30, 2023
My relative was admitted on to a ward after a long wait to get into a&e and be assessed and admitted. The care was awful. Our family had to remind them to change dressings, and to check bloods. When putting a canula in blood went everywhere. The bed and my relative were covered in it. We had to chase them to change the bedding after waiting for hours. It was clear that the ward was understaffed and they could not cope with caring for so many patients.

Care in EDeck ward could be better

October 30, 2023
Delays in basic procedures, blood tests results, and medications made my experience unpleasant. There is room for improvement which would be helped by an increase in staff numbers.

I had to attend the accident and emergency department for my mental health. I received excellent care and the crisis team were on hand to help me. Support was planned and a member of the crisis team came to see me daily at home.

Emergency C Section after wait for induction

October 20, 2023
My experience was awful. I was supposed to be induced but delays prevented this and I ended up having an emergency c section. The maternity department was so busy and it was clear there were not enough beds or enough staff, they were rushed off their feet.

Poor care - patient just left for hours

October 20, 2023
The care my wife received was appalling. She was just left in bed on her own for hours. I cannot bear to imagine what would have happened had I not been able to visit. The food was terrible, poor variety and never hot.

Incorrect information on discharge notes

October 20, 2023
My elderly relative was discharged from ward 8, their notes stated that they were no pain and that they could walk. They were actually stretchered back to their care home, as they are completely bed bound. Awful!
