UHB Heartlands Hospital

My experience at A&E at Heartlands Hospital was awful. I waited over 6 hours and had still not been seen. The waiting area was dirty and the atmosphere in there was not nice with people accompanied by police and others rowdy and drunk. The toilets were not working. The experience was so awful I left and delayed getting medical treatment because it was unbearable in there.

Outpatients appointments in the cardiology department have gone well. I have been happy with the service and treatment I have received.

I had to attending Heartlands Hospital for a blood transfusion. The treatment went well. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I was waiting 7 hours in A&E which could be better but I understand why this is the case.

The ENT department here is very nice and new.

My experience was awful when I was admitted from A&E for a head injury. I ended up leaving on my own as I was not given a bed and someone stole my bank card.

I visit this hospital regularly for diabetes checks and the care is always very good.

The results of my scan came through quickly and they did a blood test to determine the plan of action going forward.

I don't think anyone has good experiences here. I was waiting in triage for a long time as there were no beds in the labour ward. When a bed did become available I had to walk there which wasn't great. I was eventually given an epidural and had an emergency C-section which went well. I didn't feel unsafe at any point during this experience but it did feel like nobody was listening to me.

I have had multiple appointments with the hearing centre and it felt like they couldn't do much to help me. The hearing aids available through the NHS are not great.
