The asthma clinic service is outstanding

April 11, 2024
I attend the Asthma Clinic every 4 weeks for specialised asthma treatment and the service has been excellent. I am always very well looked after. I have injections every 4 weeks, and this treatment is working very well for me. I also attend every 5 weeks to see the asthma care team. Again they are excellent, they check me over, offer advice, provide therapy and they provide outstanding support. The food in the cafe at the hospital is great, the soup is lovely! Overall I feel very well looked after and I am very grateful to the wonderful team for taking such good care of me. The treatment has changed my life. It is just fantastic.

Care was good but the food was terrible

April 10, 2024
I recently spent 2 weeks at Heartlands Hospital and felt well looked after. The communication from the staff was very good. My only complaint was that the food was terrible, it was either cold or unusual combinations meaning I had to rely on cereal bars and biscuits.

Lost test results & accused of not attending

April 10, 2024
I was referred to Heartlands Hospital by my GP for a hearing test, due to suffering from tinnitus. I attended the appointment and it went okay. I was given a CD and booklet of information, and was told that I would be booked in for another appointment. My test results were lost and I did not receive another appointment. I was then contacted by my GP by letter stating that I had not attended my hospital appointment. I am very disappointed by the service I have received.

Awful care around discharge

April 10, 2024
The care from this service was awful. When I was discharged the staff told my elderly wife that she would have to get a wheelchair herself and push me out to the car park. When she explained she wasn't able to do this a member of staff pushed the wheelchair to the entrance but told us we had to leave the wheelchair there. This meant I had to walk across the car park unaided which was very difficult.

Very disorganised service

April 10, 2024
This service seems to be extremely disorganised. While the care from the consultant and his team was excellent there were a lot of issues overall. At the end of my stay after an operation I was sent home early after waiting most of the day for an MRI as they needed the bed. I then received no aftercare at all and had to chase this up myself.

Happy with care in A&E

April 10, 2024
I attended the A&E department after a fall. I had to wait a few hours to be seen but once I was the care I was provided was good. I had an X-ray and a number of other tests. The staff seemed to be very busy throughout my time here.

Nothing seems to work

April 9, 2024
On a recent visit I was waiting for 5 hours to be seen by a dermatologist. I do not understand how nothing has been done to improve this hospital as seemingly nothing works.

Disgusting A&E department

April 9, 2024
The A&E department at this hospital is disgusting, there was rubbish everywhere and it seemed like it had not been cleaned in a long time. I walked out in disgust before receiving treatment.

7 hour wait in a wheelchair in A&E

April 8, 2024
I was helped into the A&E department by a security guard who got a wheelchair for me since I was feeling unsteady. I was then sat in this wheelchair for 7 hours on ward 19 waiting to be seen. When I was eventually seen all of the tests went well and I felt well cared for.
