Long wait but happy with treatment

December 13, 2023
The service way okay. I had a very long wait but I was examined and treated, and the care I received was good.

Disabled parking is a nightmare!

December 13, 2023
Parking is a nightmare, my car has been damaged in the carpark. I have a blue badge but there are never any disabled spaces available.

Good service but waiting times are awful

December 13, 2023
So far I am happy with the care I have received in the maternity department, although waiting times are out of control! During my last visit I was in the clinic all day before finally being seen, examined and given the all clear. I do not wish to complain but a whole day spent in an uncomfortable chair waiting around for assessment is very difficult when heavily pregnant.

Understaffed postnatal ward

December 13, 2023
After a traumatic birth, baby and I were admitted overnight for observation. The ward was very busy, the midwives were rushed off their feet and struggling to care for everyone. Baby's hearing test raised a concern and a follow up appointment was made, which was done quickly , with speedy results which was great.

Poor maternity care & labour experience

December 13, 2023
I came in to the maternity department with reduced foetal movements. The staff monitored me and were concerned, but due to there being no available beds I was told to return the next morning. I was obviously very worried, but did what was asked. The next morning I was monitored again and told that they were keeping me in to induce me because of their concerns about the baby. I was then told there was no room in delivery suite so I had to be admitted to a ward and monitored overnight. I was finally induced, and I gave birth but it was very traumatic with the baby going into distress.

Care & communication is not the best

December 13, 2023
My experience of care and communication has not been the best on this ward. I encountered a consultant who was very stuck up and spoke to me rudely when asking questions, they had a very poor bedside manner. The nurses were ok, it was clear that the ward was understaffed and that they were struggling to cope.

Good care but misdiagnosed

I was rushed into the resus where they did care for me well, but I was misdiagnosed with a stomach bug, when I had a serious life threatening condition and had developed sepsis.

Appalling service allowing self discharge

December 13, 2023
I am absolutely appalled that the hospital allowed my seriously ill parent to discharge themselves. They were clearly very unwell, and had undergone complex medical tests for heart problems and cancer, and I cannot believe that they allowed them to discharge themselves in the middle of the night with no assurance of any ongoing care.

14 hour wait with possible heart problem

December 13, 2023
I attended the A&E department with severely ulcerated legs after being told to by my GP. I was quickly triaged and then waited 4 hours to see a doctor. The doctor was concerned that I was showing symptoms of a serious heart problem. I was prescribed antibiotics, my wounds were dressed and I was told to keep my legs elevated. I was told that I was going to be taken to a ward for further investigation. I then spent 14 hours sitting on a hard chair waiting to be taken to a ward. This was after I was told that I had to keep my legs elevated. I was eventually taken to ward 28, where a number of tests were carried out. They were very thorough on the ward, but the wait was appalling.
