Admitted & Diagnosed Quickly

April 19, 2023
I was admitted for 5 days following an urgent referral from a badger clinic. I was thoroughly tested and received a quick diagnosis. During my stay I was well cared for. Communication was good.

Let down by long waiting times

April 19, 2023
Was referred to Heartlands Hospital by my GP. I actively chased up the referral but have only recently received an appointment after waiting over 18 months.

Long waiting list for tests

April 19, 2023
My wife was finally seen by a consultant after an ongoing stomach problem. She was advised of the next steps and what was needed to rule out specific problems and reach a diagnosis. She was then told by the consultant that the waiting time will be a number of months. I find it appalling that to book in with this consultant privately my wife could have had the tests carried out the following week. Unfortunately we cannot afford the six thousand pounds this would costs and after paying into the NHS all our lives we should not have to.

Seen quickly by A&E & Fracture clinic

April 3, 2023
I was seen very quickly in the A&E department and referred to the fracture clinic. My wait there was not too long either. I had an x-ray, was treated and sent home with a follow up appointment booked. Excellent experience.

Poor care particularly during the night

April 3, 2023
My overall experience at this hospital is poor from consultant care to care from the nurses. The staff are lovely but it is obvious they are completely overstretched and do not have the time or capacity to care for their patients properly. When recently being treated as an in-patient the care during the night was appalling with low levels of staff and lots of patients needing help and being very unsettled without any care or support.

A&E is too far for Solihull residents

April 3, 2023
Having to travel to Heartlands for emergency treatment is just too far for people who live in Solihull. We thought that A&E was re-opening but have been informed today that its only a minor injuries department. This is obviously welcomed but this has not been made clear and we need emergency treatment facilities here!

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your patient experience at Heartlands Hospital. We are sorry that you have had such a long way to travel to be seen.

We are very pleased to inform you that in June 2023 the MIU will be opening again and in addition to this service there will also be a minor illnesses service which will be provided by a local primary care provider (GPs) and this collaboration will mean that the two services will be opened in June as the Solihull Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).

Excellent care

My appointment today has been great. I was seen quickly and the staff were lovely. Navigating the building has been difficult, lots of works going on and I think there are a lack of signs which could be more helpful.

Excellent care in Children's HDU

My child was admitted and treated in the high dependency unit. The staff were all fantastic from consultants and doctors to nursing staff. Treatment and care was excellent. Diagnosis and treatment were explained well to us and we were very reassured.
