16 Hour Wait in Accident & Emergency

My experience was awful. I was waiting for 16 hours to be seen and treated. The department was very very busy and I really cannot blame the staff who were clearly understaffed and rushed off their feet, but for the 16 hours of waiting I was just left to wait with poor care or consideration of my needs. Once I was admitted care was very good.

Experience on Wards 23 & 30

I was admitted to ward 23 before being moved on to ward 30. The staff on these wards were great, they were very busy but they did their absolute best for me. I have to give credit to a nurse who looked after me. Tom was fantastic I felt like he went above and beyond to get things moving with my care. Within a very short time of being in his care I had bloods done, an X-ray, and an MRI. He was an outstanding nurse and delivered the very best care with great kindness.

Awful experience just left for hours

Found the whole experience disgusting. I was just left for hours with no care or treatment. It seemed like people escorted in by the Police took priority over everyone else. The staff did not seem to care about other patients.

Poor organisation and facilities

I have recently been an outpatient under the gastro team and had to have and endoscopy. I had to have a general anaesthetic because of severe anxiety. I felt well looked after and cared for and the staff were great. The process seemed very unorganised and communication could have been better. The facilities at the hospital are not great, the toilets were foul. Basic hygiene and cleanliness needs to be improved at the hospital.

Lovely staff who took good care of me

I was admitted with a broken hip following a bad fall and suffered a number of other complications as a result. I cannot fault the staff they were wonderful and really took good care of me during my 3 week stay.

Poor experience in gynaecology department

Communication from this department was very poor. Appointment and results information was not made clear. Attending the appointment was not a nice experience, the department was difficult to find. I found the staff very abrupt and unhelpful.

Very good menopause care

I recently attended Heartlands Hospital for a menopause check up. I had an ultra sound as part of the check up. The appointment went very well and I had no problems. Overall I had a very good experience of the services offered.

Good care and reassurance

I attended the accident and emergency department and was suffering from a panic attack. I waited a long time to be seen and it was difficult waiting in such a busy environment when I felt so unwell and anxious. When I was seen the staff were very kind and helpful. They looked after me well and reassured me that I was physically well but experiencing a panic attack.

Admitted & Treated Quickly

I was sent to Heartlands by the Badger clinic and by-passed the busy waiting room. I was quickly assessed and admitted, and did not wait long for a bed. The service was good and efficient.
