Long waiting times but midwives are very good
February 5, 2024
My experience of maternity care at Heartlands hospital has been good. I find the department much busier than when I attend the Solihull clinic and waiting times are much longer. The midwives are very good, and I have been happy with the service.

Labour suite excellent not so great on ward
February 5, 2024
My experience was very mixed. I was initially taken onto the induction ward, where I was not checked regularly. I was told that checks should be done every 4 hours but I went over 8 hours without being checked due to the staff being busy. My labour experience was wonderful. The doctors and surgeons were amazing, and I felt very safe and reassured in their care.

I have had to attend appointments with the diabetes team. The nurses are just wonderful and so friendly and helpful, I have no complaints.
Good care from the diabetes clinic
January 26, 2024
I am under the care of the diabetes clinic. My experience has been good, they have been very thorough and I have undergone lots of different tests. I have been referred to a liver specialist but I am still waiting for an appointment to come through, I have been waiting for a long time.

I was admitted to ward 21 after a bad fall. They took good care of me, and my experience was good.
Excellent care on ward 10
January 26, 2024
The staff on ward 10 have taken excellent care of my elderly parent. They were admitted for 8 days. They have dementia and are very frail, the staff were attentive, encouraging them to eat and to move about. The doctors and nurses were very clear in their communication with our family. We felt reassured and that he was safe in their care.
Excellent care in majors
January 26, 2024
My elderly father spent 24 hours in A&E in a bay in majors. The doctors and nurses were wonderful with him, they handled him with dignity and care. They were very thorough in assessing him, he had an MRI and an ultrasound, before being admitted to a ward. The only negative was that it took so long for a bed to become available for him, but he did have a bed in his own cubical, and a relative was allowed to stay with him at all times which was appreciated.
Wonderful treatment but an awful wait
January 25, 2024
I waited 9 hours to be seen in the A&E department. The treatment was wonderful but the wait was awful, and it made me very cross. The cost travelling to the hospital is very expensive for me too, we need and A&E department at UHB Solihull.
