Operation a success and good care

June 9, 2023
I recently had an operation on my leg. The surgery went well, the staff were friendly, and I felt well cared for.

Excellent Prostate Cancer Care

June 7, 2023
Excellent ongoing treatment for prostate cancer. The staff have been outstanding from the nursing team to consultant oncologists. Dr Zakar and Andrew Hobbs have both been a tremendous help and support throughout treatment.

My experience of maternity care was excellent. General appointments were good and the quality of care during labour was oustanding.

Told that blood tests are no longer available

June 5, 2023
Was told by my GP surgery that I could attend the hospital for a blood test as no appointments were available in surgery. When I attended I was told that there is no longer a walk in service because they do not get paid for these appointments.

Quality of care from nursing staff

June 5, 2023
A recent stay in hospital was made very unpleasant by one of the nursing team. I found her manner very rude and felt that she was horrible towards me. I was not happy with the lack of help I was receiving with personal hygiene and personal care, which I was unable to do myself. Thankfully a very nice male nurse assisted me and the service and care he provided was exceptional.

Awful service for blood tests

June 5, 2023
I have to attend the hospital every 6 months for blood tests. My first experience was awful. It took 20 minutes to find the department and the wait was very very long. I previously had regular blood tests at my doctors surgery which worked much better. Having to travel to the hospital and for the service to be so bad is frustrating and inconvenient.

16 Hour Wait in Accident & Emergency

June 5, 2023
My experience was awful. I was waiting for 16 hours to be seen and treated. The department was very very busy and I really cannot blame the staff who were clearly understaffed and rushed off their feet, but for the 16 hours of waiting I was just left to wait with poor care or consideration of my needs. Once I was admitted care was very good.

Experience on Wards 23 & 30

June 2, 2023
I was admitted to ward 23 before being moved on to ward 30. The staff on these wards were great, they were very busy but they did their absolute best for me. I have to give credit to a nurse who looked after me. Tom was fantastic I felt like he went above and beyond to get things moving with my care. Within a very short time of being in his care I had bloods done, an X-ray, and an MRI. He was an outstanding nurse and delivered the very best care with great kindness.

Awful experience just left for hours

June 2, 2023
Found the whole experience disgusting. I was just left for hours with no care or treatment. It seemed like people escorted in by the Police took priority over everyone else. The staff did not seem to care about other patients.

Poor organisation and facilities

June 2, 2023
I have recently been an outpatient under the gastro team and had to have and endoscopy. I had to have a general anaesthetic because of severe anxiety. I felt well looked after and cared for and the staff were great. The process seemed very unorganised and communication could have been better. The facilities at the hospital are not great, the toilets were foul. Basic hygiene and cleanliness needs to be improved at the hospital.
