I did not feel listened to or understood

Outpatients
September 2, 2024
I had a specialist appointment at Solihull Hospital with a consultant. The appointment was very hard. I did not feel that the consultant knew why I was there or understood my explanation of the problems I have. There were some problems with language and me understanding him and I am unsure if he had problems understanding me. He knew nothing of my medical history. The letter I received following the appointment stated the exact opposite of what I explained and asked for. I have tried to call the secretary but have had no luck getting through. I feel disappointed about how my appointment went and with the final outcome.

Wonderful care during and after surgery

My husband came here for day surgery. The staff were great and nothing felt rushed. He ended up having to stay overnight and the care was wonderful throughout.

Waiting since October 2023 for operation

Gynaecology
August 30, 2024
My initial consultant appointment went well and I had not waited very long for the referral appointment to come through. I was told that I needed surgery and I have been on the waiting list since October 2023. I have now received a phone call from the department stating that I am at the top of the list and the operation would likely take place in October/November. Overall the waiting time is not great but I am hopeful that I will not be waiting too much longer.

Still waiting for referral appointment

August 30, 2024
I was referred to Solihull Hospital from the fracture clinic, for the hospital to investigate my knee problems. I received a letter from them in April stating that if I had not heard from them by July that I should call the number on the letter. I called them and was told I'm on a waiting list and just had to wait to hear from them. I don't understand why they are telling people to make contact on the letter if when you do call them you are met with an abrupt reaction and are told you have to continue to wait.
