NHS 111

I have used 111 when my surgery has been closed. I have found the service useful, they recently booked an out of hours badger appointment for my child who was unwell.

I use 111 when I cannot get a GP appointment. I find the service great, they always book me an appointment with an out of hours service.

I called 111 for advice. They were very helpful and thorough listening to the symptoms my daughter was experiencing. They told me that I needed to attend Heartlands hospital to be seen by a paediatrician and that they would be liaising with them to inform them that we would be attending.

I called for advice for my husband who was very unwell. I got through straight away and spoke to someone quickly. They sent an ambulance straight away and it arrived within 5 minutes of being called.

The service was good and an appointment was arranged for me to see a doctor that day. However, no consideration is given to where you live and how easy it is for you to get to the appointment. I was sent to a medical practice in Small Heath. I do not drive and I could not afford taxi fares, so I had to travel on two buses to the appointment which was difficult when feeling so unwell.

I had to call 111 for my friend who was having a mental health crisis. I found them very helpful although I did wait some time for a call back from a clinician.
