Used to be great, but

This was s great surgery before merging into SHP!!!
Since the merger it has been a big disappointment in all aspects, hour-long phone queues for appointments, sending you to other further away surgeries to see doctors other than your own designated doctor leading to discontinuity of care...

Disappointed with service since SHP merger

Although I have seen a very slight improvement over the last few months access and service is still not as good as it was before merging with SHP surgeries. I have been very disappointed with the surgery since joining SHP, the level of service has declined and I often find myself on the phone queuing for over an hour to get an appointment. Recently this happened and then the phone line was disconnected. The system is very frustrating.

I have not had to see a doctor for a few years and I was very pleased when I phoned up this morning and got an appointment very easily.

The service here has declined and I have considered moving practices. there is a lack of continuity of care and you struggle to see the same doctor. There is a problem with the app and I have been unable to process my prescriptions this way.
No midwife care at this surgery

Disappointed that I can no longer see a midwife here. I live locally and with my other children I was able to see my community midwife here. I do not understand why the surgery has stopped this. It means that I now have to travel to other sites where my midwife is based or go to the hospital. It now means that if there are any minor issues discovered at my appointments with my midwife GPs are no longer at hand to prescribe medication but now I have to wait and contact my GP for an appointment, which is difficult. I'm really not happy with the changes this surgery have made since joining the SHP partnership. It's harder to get appointments, appointments are less personable and now they are scaling back care provision that has always been accessed via your GP surgery.

It can be difficult at times but it is not impossible to get an appointment. The doctors are generally good and I can get my problems sorted.
2 years since last face to face appointment

It has been over 2 years since I last had a face to face appointment. Appointments are very difficult to get and it seems that the surgery has relied heavily on telephone appointments. The level of care from the doctors is generally good when you get an appointment but the booking system makes it very tricky. I have had a poor experience trying to see a doctor related to two issues I was experiencing. I explained everything to the person on the phone and told them that one was urgent and one non urgent. Two appointments were made for me on the same day as I was not allowed to discuss both matters in a single appointment. I got a call back first about the less urgent matter and despite explaining to the doctor what had happened they were not willing to discuss the more urgent matter. I then had to chase up the second appointment to discuss the urgent matter. The whole system is very complicated and it was a very frustrating experience. I did finally get medication for the urgent matter. They need to simplify the process to offer a better service to their patients.
Good diabetic nurse

I am fairly new to the surgery but have found services so far to be very good. The diabetic nurse has been great. I called in this morning at 8am for an appointment for my son after holding for 20 to 30 minutes. This was our first visit to see a GP and despite waiting quite some time for our appointment I was just pleased we managed to get an appointment.

The surgery was much better before it joined the SHP partnership. Appointments are no longer easy to access, despite coming and queuing first thing in the morning. I often queue between 8am and 9am and leave disappointed because I have not been able to book an appointment. The phone system is not fit for purpose and its impossible to get through. The surgery has lost the personal touch it previously had, and you could see a number of doctors that you have never met before, and who know nothing about your previous medical history. The system is very frustrating and seeking medical advice from your GP is now an unpleasant experience.
Great service that I find easy to access

I find the whole service very good. The receptionists are friendly and helpful, I never have a problem booking an appointment. The doctor's are great, they offer good advice and treatment.
