SHP - Shirley Medical Centre

It is hard to book an appointment here and there is no online booking system to make things easier.

I have had ongoing prostate issues and this service have been good throughout. They have made referrals and dealt with my queries and concerns effectively.

I start work at 7am so it is difficult for me to call at 8am to try and get an appointment. I got an appointment a few months ago but that felt like pure luck. I have had to pay for private care twice now to get antibiotics because I knew I was ill which shouldn't happen. This is not the staff's fault though and I have always found the receptionists here to be nice.

I have been a regular at this practice since 1960 but recently I have been unable to get appointments and have had to pay for travel to other SHP practices. The doctors and staff are okay though and the care is always good when I can get an appointment here.

This service is awful. I have been a patient since I was seven years old and for many years now I have been unable to get an appointment. There are long queues both on the phone and in person and the receptionists can be rude. I don't agree with the fact that I have to tell them what my issue is to get through to a doctor. My medication is regularly provided incorrectly with important medications not being included when I pick them up. I have managed to make 5 appointments recently and when I turned up they had no record of any of them. I have ended up having to go private for a lot of things as I have a number of long standing illnesses and can never get in here.

I struggle to get appointments here and can never see the specific doctor that I want. Whenever I do get an appointment they have to go back through my medical history every time. It's absolutely awful.

The staff here are lovely and the receptionists are very helpful. I can't always see the doctor I requested but I understand. Sometimes I choose to wait and sometimes I don't when it is a more urgent issue.

I visited this practice for prostate injections. The nurse was very nice and I am happy with the service provided.

I was having a lot of issues and wanted an appointment with a female doctor. When I went in to try and get an appointment they told me I can't have one and would have to try again in a few days. I am not happy as I care for my elderly mother and need to be healthy to do so. I am worried about trying again in a few days and still being told no. I don't want to complain to the practice manager as it could make things worse and be held against me.

Getting an appointment here is very difficult. I also see a different doctor each time so they don't get to know you like they used to.
