Long wait in Children's Accident & Emergency
August 1, 2023
My 6 year old suffered a bad cut to her head that needed medical treatment. I took her to the children's A&E department at Heartlands but we waited 7 hours for her to be treated. By the time we were seen we were told that too much time had passed or the cut to be glued so she had to have normal stitches which have led to more serious scarring. If she was treated sooner glue could have been used and the risk of scarring would have been minimised.
Operation pushed back due to strikes

I have been waiting since April or an operation that has been pushed back due to the strikes.
13 hour wait in A&E with dementia patient
July 27, 2023
Our experience was awful. I attended with my husband who has dementia and was unwell. After waiting for 13 hours he received no treatment and we were told to go home.
Very good prostate cancer care
July 26, 2023
My experience has been very good. I have received good care from the prostate cancer team, having regular check ups. The staff have been great, they are very informative and communication is good.
Good care but little rest
July 26, 2023
I was admitted for 10 days and treated for pneumonia. The care was good but during my stay I was moved around from ward to ward in the middle of the night. This happened more than once. The food at the hospital was not good at all.
Excellent treatment & care

I was recently admitted to Heartlands Hospital for two nights. I cannot fault my time there. The care was excellent. I was being treated for a respiratory condition, the nurses did a wonderful job despite being so busy.
Very Good Badger Service
July 25, 2023
I have had to use the Badger service at Heartlands on a number of occasions because of the difficulties accessing GP appointments at my own surgery. The service here is very good and you can attend for walk in appointments during specific times.
A Battle For Information

I find it a battle to get any information from them. It's a shame and something I hear a lot about this hospital.
Elderly patient discharged at 10.30pm!
July 14, 2023
My husband was recently discharged from the hospital after being seriously ill. Whilst treatment was good and his health had greatly improved he was discharged at 10.30pm. I found this quite shocking that someone would be discharged so late in the evening particularly when unwell, older and quite frail.
Lack of communication
July 14, 2023
My father has recently been admitted for the second time in the past two months. While I have been very happy with the treatment and care it has only been brought to our attention now that when he was in hospital last time he was suffering from kidney failure. We were not told about this and there was no continuity of care, treatment or even monitoring following his last stay. This lack of communication is quite concerning.
