Care in EDeck ward could be better

October 30, 2023
Delays in basic procedures, blood tests results, and medications made my experience unpleasant. There is room for improvement which would be helped by an increase in staff numbers.

Mental health support put in place quickly

October 30, 2023
I had to attend the accident and emergency department for my mental health. I received excellent care and the crisis team were on hand to help me. Support was planned and a member of the crisis team came to see me daily at home.

Emergency C Section after wait for induction

October 20, 2023
My experience was awful. I was supposed to be induced but delays prevented this and I ended up having an emergency c section. The maternity department was so busy and it was clear there were not enough beds or enough staff, they were rushed off their feet.

Poor care - patient just left for hours

October 20, 2023
The care my wife received was appalling. She was just left in bed on her own for hours. I cannot bear to imagine what would have happened had I not been able to visit. The food was terrible, poor variety and never hot.

Incorrect information on discharge notes

October 20, 2023
My elderly relative was discharged from ward 8, their notes stated that they were no pain and that they could walk. They were actually stretchered back to their care home, as they are completely bed bound. Awful!

I have visited the hearing and eye departments at the hospital. Appointments have gone well but I was disappointed to note that there are no longer books in the children's areas.

Bring back the children's books

October 20, 2023
No complaints about the service but I am disappointed that there are no longer children's books available at the children's a&e department, which is a real shame. They keep children entertained and are more educational than watching a film.

Regarding the books, these were probably removed for infection control reasons in the pandemic but there may be scope to discuss what happens moving forward.

Good treatment but poor discharge process

October 19, 2023
I was treated at the hospital after a fall and subsequently had to have an operation. The staff were good but the discharge process and aftercare was poor. Communication was poor and there was a lot of confusion about where I was to be discharged to, with the hospital taking steps for me to be put in a home when I was to return home to the care of my wife.
