I felt safe & well looked after during labour

February 9, 2024
I had to have my baby at Good Hope Hospital because there was no room at Heartlands for me. I had a very positive experience. The midwives and doctors were very good, and I felt safe and well looked after.

Excellent care in a wonderful hospital

January 26, 2024
The level of care received here was exceptional. The care from the nurses was wonderful, they kept my husband clean and presentable, shaving him and meeting his needs. It was wonderful that they understood that my husband is a proud smart man. This was on top of meeting his medical needs. The hospital was clean and bright, with great facilities. It gave me great peace of mind knowing he was safe in their care, after an awful experience in a care home.

Did not pick up on misdiagnosis

January 10, 2024
I have attended a number of appointments, been a patient in A&E, and been admitted but the doctors at the hospital failed to pick up on my misdiagnosis.

Waiting over 9 hours in A&E

January 4, 2024
My experience here was poor. I was directed to A&E here because I was told that Heartlands was too busy. I waited over nine and a half hours to be seen. The care was not great, the staff had a very poor manner, and communication was awful. It cost me a fortune travelling here by taxi rather than my local A&E department.

Poor parking for disabled patients

December 18, 2023
Parking facilities are poor at this hospital. Disabled bays are limited always full, and they do not have the same scheme as other UHB hospitals where you can park for free, which is disappointing.

Excellent but no follow up appointment

December 18, 2023
I waited 42 months for my operation but from the minute I walked in the door they were excellent. The consultant was lovely. I was terrified but the anaesthetist was wonderful and really put me at ease. The ward was spotless and the staff who cared for me there were great. They were so friendly, you could tell that it was not a job for them but a vocation. I was disappointed that I did not get a follow up appointment, after being told by the consultant that I would have a follow up within 2 weeks.

Appalling care

December 13, 2023
My late husband spent 11 days as a patient here. He came home filthy dirty, and had lost a lot of weight. He had not eaten or drank anything in 11 days. I was appalled at how his condition had deteriorated whilst in the care of the hospital.
