Poor parking for disabled patients

Parking facilities are poor at this hospital. Disabled bays are limited always full, and they do not have the same scheme as other UHB hospitals where you can park for free, which is disappointing.

Excellent but no follow up appointment

I waited 42 months for my operation but from the minute I walked in the door they were excellent. The consultant was lovely. I was terrified but the anaesthetist was wonderful and really put me at ease. The ward was spotless and the staff who cared for me there were great. They were so friendly, you could tell that it was not a job for them but a vocation. I was disappointed that I did not get a follow up appointment, after being told by the consultant that I would have a follow up within 2 weeks.

Appalling care

My late husband spent 11 days as a patient here. He came home filthy dirty, and had lost a lot of weight. He had not eaten or drank anything in 11 days. I was appalled at how his condition had deteriorated whilst in the care of the hospital.

Excellent care given to my daughter

My daughter recently had an emergency operation at Good Hope Hospital. She took an adverse reaction to the anesthetic and became very unwell. I cannot fault the staff at the hospital, they were excellent and they took great care of her, ensuring that she made a full recovery.

Lovely staff

I attended an appointment with a surgeon, but was referred to Heartlands Hospital for a CT scan. I was happy with how the appointment went, the staff were all lovely.

Treat their patients well but not each other

The staff are lovely people and treated me with kindness and care. What upset me was how obvious it was that staff were so unhappy in their professions. They were lovely to patients but not to each other. I felt very uncomfortable and it did not make for a nice experience witnessing 'office politics', and staff being spoken to so rudely by their superiors. The communication from the hospital needs to be improved too. Letters have not arrived, and I have been sent incorrect information regarding face to face appointments when the hospital called to confirm a telephone appointment instead. These issues need to be addressed to improved patient experience.

Good care but far to travel to

I recently attended Good Hope Hospital for a colonoscopy. The staff were very nice and the appointment went well, but it took me 3.5 hours to travel there when I live much closer to Solihull Hospital and Heartlands Hospital. I have requested that future appointments are not at Good Hope as navigating the long journey on public transport was very difficult and not a nice experience.
