Poor
August 1, 2021
Rude unqualified reception staff trying to deal with medical issues. Face to face appointments with doctors almost impossible. Diagnosis over the phone is ludicrous and causes unnecessary visits to a very busy A&E department. Arranging repeat prescriptions is unnecessarily time consuming forcing. It’s about time the doctors now realised they are a public service and the profession they are within requires face to face consultation. Which is professionally and safely conducted by many hospital, dental departments and even retail outlets already.
Ok at times

Difficult to get through and reception staff aren't very helpful
Midwife services are terrible

Let them know you’re pregnant and you’re assigned a midwife, currently 22 weeks pregnant and yet to meet her. First appointment was a disaster, double booked, duty midwife struggled to get bloods. At my first scan Hospital wasn't aware my pregnancy is high risk until they looked further into my history as midwife had put it down as normal despite me airing my concerns and telling her what happened during my first one. Missed 16 week appointment because midwife wouldn’t answer the phone or return messages. Ended up in hospital, still not spoken to midwife. Not really sure what’s next appointment wise as no contact at all from her.
Phone the surgery they’re just unhelpful, that’s when you can get through. Never had issues like this with my first pregnancy at a different surgery. Understand and sympathise they’re really busy but I feel I’m missing out on basic care.

Appalling care

Appalling wait times on the phone lines every single morning. No proactive follow up of blood results - had to ring the surgery and find out I needed an emergency prescription.
This surgery also failed to diagnose Sepsis and it was only because I took myself to A&E following on from a telephone consultation that I survived. Some appointments should not be a telephone consultation only even with a fever. Care provided at this surgery is dangerous and shows incompetency in both medical knowledge and research.

Can never ever get an appointment

Try to call at 8am. Can never get through. It’s says they are experiencing a high volume of calls so they cut you off. Keep trying. Eventually get through sometimes. 8th person in the queue but takes 40 minutes to get through then to be told no appointments left and to try again in the morning. Knowing that I need to book an appointment for myself or my children gives me anxiety because of the issues I have when trying to book an appointment. I am a full time working mum and do not have the option to keep trying to ring daily at 8am until I get an appointment. Receptionists are rude. I am a healthcare professional myself and would be embarrassed to work for that practice. GPS and nurses are good though but it’s impossible to get an appointment with them.
The receptionists are rude and arrogant

It is a extremely hard to get through on the phone
If you do get through there are usually no appointments and the receptionists are always rude and dismissive
My last experience was one where I couldn’t get an app so I went to the a and e walk in
They said go back to your drs if still unwell after 2 weeks as it could be a serious kidney issue
After 2 weeks I was worse
I called the drs and was told there were no apps
I said the hospital said to get one and retold what I’ve said above - how the hospital said I had to follow it up
I got the Same response with a dose of attitude and rudeness - we have nothing
I said I could have a serious kidney issue and that they have a duty of care - she said we have nothing bye and hung up
The receptionists are the rudest people ever
The drs and nurses I see are great but trying to see them is so hard. Often I end up being ill with no treatment rather than going through the battle of the receptionists especially as I experience anxiety.
Also there are never enough appointments and there’s only one time to call to get them
When I was a low income person I’d run out of credit calling and being on hold before I’d even get through
The issues are 100% the admin team!!!

Can't get through phone lines
August 1, 2021
I've tried for days at a time to get through on phone, can be on hold for 45 mins then cuts you off, normally at least 15/20p in the queue infront of you at anytime, when you do get through no appointments left, receptionists can be rude too, no one seems to care, I have several health concerns which I've just had to let drop as I cannot spend hours on hold every day, health concerns I have had looked at aren't being investigated thoroughly as I'm an otherwise healthy adult so am deemed probably OK.
Unhelpful receptionist

Asked by pharmacy to ring bell on door of gp practice to enquire about missing prescription. Was told I have to telephone. I said that’s fine I was just doing what the pharmacist recommended to be told “ they don’t work here we do”. Very rude and unhelpful.
Great!

Once I have been given an appointment, I feel I am always given a good level of care. Making appointments online is much better, but not always an option- particularly for a nurse’s appointment. I would like to see more telephone/ video link consultants take place as they are much more flexible with work commitments.
