Wonderful care from the vascular team
June 3, 2025
I have been under the care of the vascular team at Heartlands Hospital. The staff are wonderful and I am happy with the service I have received from them.
Not waiting long and kept comfortable
June 3, 2025
I went to A&E with a broken ankle. I was seen in good time, given pain relief and kept comfortable. The care was good overall.
Good maternity care
June 3, 2025
My experience of maternity care at Heartlands Hospital was good. I had a planned c-section due to gestational diabetes. My antenatal care was very good and the delivery also went well. I cannot fault the doctors or midwives. My only concern was that I was put on a ward close to women who were experiencing miscarriage. This was a horrible environment to be in for those poor women and for those of us who were not experiencing miscarriage. I think its very insensitive to put women in such a situation.
Good care but poor communication from SDEC
June 3, 2025
My experience of care from the SDEC team was very good. I was referred there from A&E and I was seen very quickly. It was explained to me that I could go home and that they would arrange for a CT scan as an outpatient within 24 hours. They did arrange the appointment and I had the CT scan just over 24 hours later. My only concern is that I was seen by the SDEC team after the CT scan and was told that everything looked good/normal. I found out at a later appointment at another hospital that I did in fact have gall stones and they had shown up on the CT scan. It was very disappointing that I was told by staff in SDEC that everything was fine and that it was missed.
Refused ambulance as they would bring me here
June 2, 2025
I recently avoided calling an ambulance when there were concerns around my blood pressure as they would take me to Heartlands and I don't trust the care they provide.
Dreadful hospital
May 30, 2025
This hospital is dreadful. During my last visit there were safety concerns with all the doors being locked due to an aggressive patient running around in A&E. The staff aren't nice either. The receptionists are unhelpful and lack compassion. I was waiting for 10 days to get in and then I was sent home without being seen properly.
Do not agree with MAU being mixed gender
May 30, 2025
I have spent time on the MAU at Heartlands Hospital and my experience was not good. This was mainly because the ward was of mixed genders. I do not agree with this, as an elderly man I felt very uncomfortable on a ward with women.
Good care but no rest on wards
May 30, 2025
I was admitted to Heartlands Hospital, and whilst care was good there were clear problems on the wards. It is terrible that patients with dementia and psychiatric problems are put on wards with other patients. There was no chance of resting or sleeping due to disruptive patients, through no fault of their own. I think it is terrible that there is no provision for specialised wards where dementia patients and patients with mental health conditions can be treated. The set up as it is lacks dignity and privacy for patients. Patients without these conditions are in hospital because they are unwell and they have no opportunity to rest and recuperate because the wards are disruptive at all times of the day and night.
Prompt treatment in A&E department

I attended A&E at Heartlands Hospital. I was seen and treated quickly. I cannot fault the staff at the hospital, and was happy with the care and treatment I received.
Excellent oncology care
May 29, 2025
My experience of cancer treatment at Heartlands Hospital was excellent. I cannot fault the care I received from the team of staff including my consultant, doctors and nurses. I had to attend daily for treatment and the care I received made a hard situation much more manageable.
