Concern strike will impact planned operation

Outpatients
July 6, 2023
I recently had an operation cancelled at the last minute. Today I have attended another pre-op assessment which went well, but the planned surgery is on the 18th July 2023, at the same time that junior doctors are striking. I am now concerned that my operation will be cancelled again.

Poor Communication & Administration

July 6, 2023
I had a number of appointments including a pre-op assessment and was told I was given a date for my operation. The day before the planned operation I had a consultant appointment. The consultant knew nothing about the planned operation for the next day and said that it was not on the system. I had been for the pre-op assessment and had been following the required diet as directed by the hospital. I could not believe that the day before I was told my operation was booked in for the staff knew nothing about it. I was told that I would have to wait for another operation date to come through and that I would have to go for another pre-op assessment. I just cannot believe that I went through the whole process which was a waste of my time and a complete waste of the NHS staff's time too. It was also extremely frustrating and caused me a great deal of stress.

Great paediatrician but long wait to be seen

My son with ADHD and dyspraxia is under the paediatric team at Solihull Hospital, and whilst the paediatrician we see is fantastic, waiting for routine appointments is far too long, and do not take place within the given time frame. We were supposed to be seen in January 2023 but the appointment did not take place until mid June 2023.

Excellent service but long wait to be seen

The cardiology team at my appointment were excellent. The only fault is the length of time I waited in between my MRI and the follow up appointment. It was nearly 12 months and it was very stressful waiting. I did chase up the appointment but this did not seem to help.

Operation cancelled at very last minute

July 3, 2023
I was scheduled in for a knee replacement operation, I had all appointments running up to the procedure, attended my pre-op. Saw three different doctors and given the go ahead and then on the day when gowned up and ready to go the operation was cancelled as I was suddenly deemed high risk. I will be reviewed in 3 months time but I am not happy at all.

My appointment, at the Breast Clinic, was scheduled very quickly and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Communication has been excellent and I have been kept well informed. The only problems I have encountered are follow up blood tests to be arranged by my doctors and that it not happening so I am unsure about how good the communication between the hospital and my doctors surgery is.

X-ray
June 29, 2023
I was referred for a chest x-ray following a long period of chest complaints. The appointment was made at the weekend which was very convenient meaning that I did not have to miss time off work. I was seen very quickly and was in and out that quickly that I did not incur any parking charges. The staff were great, polite, profession, and got the job done efficiently. Excellent experience.

Excellent treatment & care on surgical ward

June 28, 2023
I had surgery to remove my gall bladder and was in hospital for one week. The surgery went well and I was very well looked after by the staff. My time recovering in hospital was very pleasant. The ward environment was very nice and calm. The care from the nurses and other staff was excellent, and they really had time for their patients.
