Amazing staff and doctors during covid

When I was going through a difficult time during covid, the staff and doctors were all responsive and they will call and check on my husband who was very ill.

Very difficult to get appointments to see GP

Very difficult to get appointments to see GP.
Can only discuss one topic, sometimes requests are ignored.
Generally helpful but is understaffed.

Pharmacy at the Yew Tree GP is approachable

Very helpful and approachable.
Open till late which helps.
Does have occasional shortage.

Can't get hold of the GP

Can't get hold of GP. Spend too long on the phone waiting. Last time I spent 39 minutes in the queue.
So now I don't call them as I have given up.

The one nurse at the surgery is very good.

Can't get to see a doctor

Can't get to see a Dr or speak to one.
Phone in and no one is available.
Choose ring back because it can be over an hour.
Then receptionist calls and says Dr will call you later.
Had text saying get blood pressure checked. Took over an hour to get through.

Can't get appointments to tell Dr how you are

Can't get appointment. I don't like telephone appointments as you can't tell Dr how you feel on the phone.
Have got an appointment for Asthma
Nurse has asked me to go but otherwise you can't get an appointment at all.

Not given test results

I have just been into Yew Tree surgery to ask for my test results and was told that I cannot have them until I speak to a doctor. Quite frankly, it is an insult to my intelligence that I cannot be trusted to have my results before I discuss them with a doctor. It is important to be to be able to see the results before the telephone appointment so that I am well informed to be able to discuss options. Not having the results early means that patients are 'put under pressure' when they have to digest the results during the consultation and make decisions.
When I said that I was unhappy with the system, the 'scripted answer' from the receptionist was "I only work in the system I don't make it" lacks empathy and understanding and is unhelpful at best!!
