GPS Healthcare - Yew Tree

Getting appointments here can be difficult but luckily I don't need to go too often.

I have recently been having a lot of health issues so was booked in for a CT scan at this practice. I am happy with the service provided but I found it very difficult to get the appointment in the first place. You have to phone at exactly 8am and can be waiting for a long time which isn't possible for a lot of people.

I can usually get a doctors appointment here but there are still not enough doctors and nurses. It can also be difficult getting prescriptions from the doctor but once it has gone through to the pharmacy everything is usually fine.

The care I have received from this service has been excellent. The doctors are good and I can get appointments whenever I need them.

It is difficult to get appointments here. My blood pressure medication was recently stopped without warning and I was not contacted for a medication review. The receptionist was eventually able to sort this out for me but I was not impressed.

I was unable to get an appointment here so I went to Solihull urgent treatment centre. They told me I needed an urgent blood test and to go back to my GP. When I contacted Yew Tree again they still would not listen to me. I now have to wait over 2 weeks for the appointment leaving me very worried as I was told the issue was urgent.

Yew Tree Surgery are very good, I never have any problems getting an appointment when I need one. I feel that I receive an extra level of service because I have a learning disability. They are very kind and caring and help me a lot.

My experience of Yew Tree Medical centre has not been great. I waited 3 weeks for an appointment with a specific doctor and my appointment was cancelled on the morning of the appointment. They did book it in for the following week but I have experienced a lack of communication and received poor information from the surgery. My medication was changed just before Christmas during a 5 minute appointment where the doctor gave me the choice out of two. I felt on the spot and did not feel well equipped to make that decision so I have been fearful to start taking it because I am not sure that it is the correct medication for me. I want the doctor to advise me what the best medication is not ask me to decide. I do not feel that doctors understand how patients with mental health problems feel. I have not started taking the new medication and I am still waiting for an appointment to get the information I need.

The surgery in general is okay, access to doctors needs to be improved. The doctors are really good when you get to see them, the problem is getting an appointment to see one which is very frustrating.

I have been quite impressed with the service offered by the surgery. I have been happy with access and treatment.
