No help from staff at Solihull hospital

November 7, 2022
Went to A&E when with a cut off finger.
The security guard at the Solihull hospital was patronising and told me to leave as there are no A&E.
When I showed the security my finger that had cut off that is when he called and got help.

My wife had to take me to Queen Elizabth Hospital which had a long waiting time of 9 hours.

Waited 2 years to get appointment

October 27, 2022
I was referred by the GP to the bone specialist because of pain which I was experiencing in my leg and wrist.
It took 1.5 years just to be referred by the Dr and then it took a further 2 years to see the specialist at the hospital.
On seeing the specialist, they surgeon advised that i required an operation.
They provided follow up appointments after the operation took place and provide good after care service.
I have rated them 4 stars because of the positive experience with the operation and care received was appointment was received.

Poor experience with eye injections

Ophthalmology
October 17, 2022
I had what is called Intravitreal injection better know as eye injections into the eyes. I went on the 16th October for injection into both left and right eyes with a surgeon either [Dr name] or a member of his team. The agonising discomfort I received when the surgeon injected into my left eye was more a stabbing injection instead of a routine gentle approach. This has caused me poor anxiety feelings and extremely nervous about any other next appointments I may have in the near future. I have had over 31 injections into my eyes and this is the worse I have ever had to endure. I have made a complaint to the UHB who own the Solihull Hospital about the surgeons behaviour and lack of communication with the operation on my eyes. I just wanted to acknowledge my experience I have just had and hope this painful episode doesn't happen again to other patients.

Delayed pregnancy scan & too far for travel

X-ray
September 15, 2022
During my wifes pregnancy the hospital was sending us for scans to Solihull hospital which is far to get to if you live on the other side.
There were times when we couldn't make the appointments for the scans as the hospital sent the appointments last minute and with a day difference.
It was difficult trying to keep up with the appointments for scans especially when the appointments were very close to the appointment dates.
Her scans were being rushed as she got closer to her due dates which was worrying and impacting my wifes health.

Rheumatology Dept - Great care and service.

September 1, 2022
I was pregnant, the staff gave me additional appointments which were monthly. My doctor is amazing. She specialises in children, so she gave me so much advise and information around conceiving. Very communicative and keeps in touch.
Had to wait for face to face appointment when I got to the hospital. The waiting time is a area that needs to be addressed.

Pelvic issue not taken seriously during birth

Gynaecology
September 1, 2022
Had a forced delivery with my first pregnancy I ended up suffering problems with my pelvis.
The issue should have been known but I was fearful that the issue was not going to be taken seriously by any health professionals during my 2nd pregnancy.
I had to have forceps delivery and since then I have an incontinence problem. It is 3 years in and I cant do any activities or experiences because no one has examined me. I have received no scans.
When I had a coil fitted by the recommendation of umbrella service and GP in Birmingham.
I have now been referred to gynecologists in Solihull by the Gynecologist from Birmingham GP.
No one checks on your health once the pregnancy has taken place.
