GPS Healthcare - Meadowside Family Health Centre

GPS Meadowside are a good GP surgery and provide a good service. I have never had any problems.

I have found that Meadowside Surgery provide a very good service, particularly for the elderly. They referred me to the orthopaedic department at Heartlands Hospital, which I was pleased about.

It is very hard to get appointments. There is a lack of continuity of care and follow on care is poor. I have had an ongoing health concern they did refer me but other than that they have not been helpful at all.

The nurses I see when I visit for dressing changes are lovely and help book my next appointment for me.

I would like to give praise where praise is due, the staff are wonderful at Meadowside Surgery and especially one doctor who is so kind and just listens to you, she has a fabulous bedside manner, she is truly an asset to the surgery.

The receptionist here is absolutely horrendous. I reported her but was not satisfied with the response so I left.

I attended the surgery for an asthma check with the nurse. The nurse was concerned about my chest and said that it sounded bad. She told me that I needed to go home and call NHS 111 because there were no doctors present at the surgery that day.

The new Patches system is pretty good. I prefer using Patches than phoning, and I have been more successful getting appointments using it. My most recent experience was good and I was offered an appointment with a choice of two surgeries, but this did not include Meadowside which is my main surgery and the one that is local and most convenient to get to.

My experience of the GPS surgeries, in particular Meadowside, has been excellent. I have no problems accessing appointments and getting repeat prescriptions.

I attended Meadowside surgery concerned about a lump. The doctor insisted it was a fatty lump. I was unhappy with this and following number of appointments I insisted on being referred to the hospital, where I was diagnosed with cancer. I had to fight for the hospital referral and had I not my cancer may have been left untreated for much longer reducing the success of treatment. I feel that I should have been referred straight away and should not have had to be made to feel like a nuisance.
