Excellent treatment from dermatology team

Dermatology
November 1, 2023
My experience has been brilliant. The clinic runs regular appointments and they always go well. The consultant is lovely and the treatment is really helping my symptoms improve.

Referral process is too slow

Patient experience is just awful because of how long we have to wait for an appointment. We are expected to be happy that we have finally seen someone. The waiting times are really unacceptable and people are suffering because of them.

Walk in UTC refused to see me

October 19, 2023
I went to the new urgent treatment centre that's advertised as a 'walk in centre', but they refused to book me in to see a doctor without booking an appointment. They gave me a telephone number to call, so I sat in the waiting room and called the number. They booked me an appointment for two and a half hours later, so I had to sit and wait for the appointment. I was appalled!

Pelvic scan following urgent referral

Imaging
October 17, 2023
The nurse who collected me for the scan clearly hadn't read my notes, so didn't understand that I'd been referred under the two week rule to check for signs of ovarian cancer. She was brusque and unfriendly, and told me I had to go in alone. When she realised how frightened I was of what was happening, she relented and seemed to wish she'd been more sensitive - but by that point, having kept a lid on my fears for a fortnight for the sake of my children - the floodgates had opened and I spent most of the appointment in tears. It was wholly unnecessary. All I needed was a little kindness, but instead I was treated like someone deliberately causing a problem, as opposed to a scared woman who just didn't want to be alone at an important moment.

Discharge process was too slow, I walked out

October 11, 2023
I was recently admitted for treatment. The delay in discharging me was ridiculous. I was told that I was being discharged and that it would take a couple of hours to have the paperwork ready. After waiting several hours I was still told that I would be going home but that I had to wait for the paperwork to be completed. In the end I got so frustrated with waiting that I just left. They called me later telling me that I had to go back but I politely declined.
