Outstanding care for end of life patient

August 4, 2023
My mum was admitted a few days before she passed away. She was treated very well during that time and I was very happy with the care she received. The family, and my mum, were all treated with kindness and compassion at a very difficult time.

8 hour wait when needed immediate treatment

August 4, 2023
My experience in A&E was horrendous. I waited over 8 hours to be seen and treated. I was told that I should have been treated immediately and put on oxygen straight away.

Excellent Care On Ward 21

August 3, 2023
I was admitted onto ward 21 for 2 nights. I cannot fault anything from consultants to nursing staff they were all very good. I did not feel judged about my lifestyle but found staff helpful and supportive, who made suggestions and recommendations about my follow on care to improve my health. Necessary referrals were made by the staff on the ward. Upon discharge I was provided with a taxi home, which was paid for, because the discharge lounge was busy and the wait for hospital transport would be very long.

Good experience I was seen quite quickly

August 3, 2023
I was treated in the emergency day centre by a junior doctor who was very generous with her time. I was thoroughly examined and told that I would admitted once a bed became available. The nurses were all very good. I was well looked after and given a hot drink, a sandwich, and biscuits because the vending machines were not working. I was expecting a much longer wait but in total it took 6 hours from arrival to being admitted on a ward.

Long wait in Children's Accident & Emergency

August 1, 2023
My 6 year old suffered a bad cut to her head that needed medical treatment. I took her to the children's A&E department at Heartlands but we waited 7 hours for her to be treated. By the time we were seen we were told that too much time had passed or the cut to be glued so she had to have normal stitches which have led to more serious scarring. If she was treated sooner glue could have been used and the risk of scarring would have been minimised.
