Told I just have to live with the problems

Outpatients
July 13, 2023
I have a number of doctors at Solihull about the problems I have been experiencing. I have been told that I just have to live with the problems. I'm not happy with this. There are things that could be done they just are not willing to fund them. Awful service from the hospital and the NHS in general!

Tried to kill me I think

Wrong after op treatment, gave me ileus, after 10 days of continually being sick and the hospital refusing to give me basic treatment and refusing to transfer me, I was eventually transferred to the QE suffering malnutrition.
I think I have PTSD from my experience.

Excellent care during operation

Cancer services
July 7, 2023
I had surgery to remove a cancerous growth and the level of care was excellent. The staff were all ladies which I found comforting. Throughout the lead up to the surgery, and during my recovery I was kept well informed about my treatment. During my operation my family members were kept updated on how I was doing and they were well looked after during a worrying time for them. The surgery went well and my consultant has been excellent during my recovery period and in follow up appointments.

Concern strike will impact planned operation

Outpatients
July 6, 2023
I recently had an operation cancelled at the last minute. Today I have attended another pre-op assessment which went well, but the planned surgery is on the 18th July 2023, at the same time that junior doctors are striking. I am now concerned that my operation will be cancelled again.

Poor Communication & Administration

July 6, 2023
I had a number of appointments including a pre-op assessment and was told I was given a date for my operation. The day before the planned operation I had a consultant appointment. The consultant knew nothing about the planned operation for the next day and said that it was not on the system. I had been for the pre-op assessment and had been following the required diet as directed by the hospital. I could not believe that the day before I was told my operation was booked in for the staff knew nothing about it. I was told that I would have to wait for another operation date to come through and that I would have to go for another pre-op assessment. I just cannot believe that I went through the whole process which was a waste of my time and a complete waste of the NHS staff's time too. It was also extremely frustrating and caused me a great deal of stress.

Great paediatrician but long wait to be seen

Outpatients
July 5, 2023
My son with ADHD and dyspraxia is under the paediatric team at Solihull Hospital, and whilst the paediatrician we see is fantastic, waiting for routine appointments is far too long, and do not take place within the given time frame. We were supposed to be seen in January 2023 but the appointment did not take place until mid June 2023.

Excellent service but long wait to be seen

The cardiology team at my appointment were excellent. The only fault is the length of time I waited in between my MRI and the follow up appointment. It was nearly 12 months and it was very stressful waiting. I did chase up the appointment but this did not seem to help.

Operation cancelled at very last minute

July 3, 2023
I was scheduled in for a knee replacement operation, I had all appointments running up to the procedure, attended my pre-op. Saw three different doctors and given the go ahead and then on the day when gowned up and ready to go the operation was cancelled as I was suddenly deemed high risk. I will be reviewed in 3 months time but I am not happy at all.
