Poor support & communication - social worker

The help and support from my social worker has been poor, mainly due to lack of communication and information. I have not been advised about costs and payments of care home needs, or how it will impact my income and benefits. It has been over a week since I have heard from them despite trying to make contact with them on several occasions. It is so hard to navigate the system and it is impacting my mental health, and my ability to care for my spouse.

Struggling to access support

I have been trying to access support and social care support for my sister's adolescent daughter that I am caring for. I have tried all I can, GP referral or the school to get involved but no one is doing anything about it. Solihull social services are very slow and they don't act upon any potential risk case.

Problem with my flat and neighbours

I have been complaining to the housing team at the Solihull council about how my neighbours behaviour towards me. There is water leaking in my flat since last month and I have been waiting for repairs to come. They have not supported me in dealing with all the issues I have complained about.

Problems with access to my apartment

I have been calling the council for months to report issues with accessing my apartment. I have mobility issue and it is difficult for me to use the stairs. I recently had a knee operation which is making it hard for me to use the stairs. So far, I have not heard anything the council.

Very quick and efficient service

I enquired with my care home about having rails. The lady said it would be the housing team that I would need to contact.

I contacted the adult care team for an occupational therapy assessment.
through another resident who had provided me with the number.
It took about 2 weeks to get through and to get myself referred.
It took a month for an occupational therapist to come out but when they did, they were lovely and the installer for the equipment was lovely.

Good improvement thanks to the Council

After I waited for 2 years I finally got a decent house to live in thanks to Solihull council. Everything looks fine and I am happy to move on with my life.

Brilliant service

Had to apply for a grant for a new bathroom. The occupational therapist recently came out to add grab rails, bath stools and provided perching stool. The people who took the referral were good on the phone. Within a week everything was done and all action from referral completed apart from the bathroom which is has been submitted to the grant providers. Through lockdown the team contacted me to check on my welfare.

Awaiting for Occupational Therapist visit.

I am awaiting for occupational therapist to visit me after being referred in April by the housing team due to my difficulties with Arthritis.
I am still awaiting and not had any response.

Poor care and support for elderly mum

The social care team was contacted for my mum who is in her 100's.
There is no consistency with the staff in the morning. Families and my mum is not able to tell which staff should be coming in the morning.

The staff in the evenings that come to provide meals are not regular. I am one of the daughters and I have contacted the social team a lot of time to explain this including other family members but nothing is being done.

Family members have gone out to visit mum in the afternoon to check on her and to ensure that she has eaten and dropped food off for her.

My mum did have a social worker but they are no longer coming.
