SOLAR - Bishop Wilson & Freshfields sites

My experience of Solar as a parent of a child receiving help from them, my experience has been poor. There has been a lack of communication and I have not been updated at all about my child's progress or about how well sessions/counselling is going. I am very disappointed as better feedback and communication would mean that I can better help my child.

I waited over a year from initial assessment to getting one to one counselling sessions. I quite liked the counsellor, they were nice. I had 18 sessions altogether and I did find them helpful.

I have been waiting a long time for an appointment to come through after being referred by my GP.

My son was offered Art therapy sessions, which was excellent. I had thought he was getting one to one support, but this was a group session, which was disappointing.

Solar have been amazing. I have had one to one counselling, and it has really helped me with my mental health struggles.

I have been really struggling. My medication stops working and getting medication reviews is difficult. I have been told that I cannot be tested for a personality disorder until I am 18.

I found the service unhelpful and do not feel that they supported me well. I was very disappointed.

I had weekly one to one counselling sessions over the course of a year. I found the counselling very good and it really helped me.

I was referred by my GP, and after a long wait I made contact and was told that I had missed my appointment. I had to argue with them and explain that I had not received any communication from them and knew nothing about an appointment. It was very stressful, which was not helpful considering I had been referred due to mental health difficulties.

Solar have been excellent and provided great support with my ASD, ADHD and dyspraxia.
