Good drs but difficult to get an appointment

Virtually impossible to get an appointment! Appointments are released each day at 8.30, which means people who need a dr urgently are fighting against those who have a routine, non-urgent request which could be dealt with at any time. Appointments are all gone by 8,45 so very difficult to see a dr on the day you wish, especially if you are busy at 8.30 eg at work!

My son has had 6 strokes and for him to be treated as he has is an absolute disgrace. He can't get to see the same doctor. He suffers with depression & anxiety. So he doesn't need to explain him self every time he see another locom. He asked for a sick note to get on pips but he was told he could only have a sick note for six weeks. Which is ridiculous. He's always worked till his strokes. He shouldn't be treated like this.
Phone appointments have improved

For the last few years it was impossible to get through the phone system or to speak with anyone. But since the beginning of this year things have change for the better. I was seen by the doctor two consecutive times and I have been referred to another service for my anxiety and depression.

They have removed option to book future appointments. Can only call 8.30am and get same day appointment. Impossible to get through. For working people it makes it almost impossible to see your GP

Message from Dr asking me to make an appointment. This is an impossible task. Why could the Dr not make an appointment, the nurse does.

There is never any doctor available to speak with, they are always busy or not there. Phone's never answered and I cannot get repeat prescription without calling 4 to 6 times.

The surgery was fine until it merged with SHP. It is a nightmare.
You can phone and phone and if you are lucky enough to get through then you are waiting long in the queue only to find that you get cut off as you get closer in the queue.
There was a patient line that was set up by an organisation but every time they went to the GPs with the patients concerns, they would get told everything is ok.
People are going to hospitals but then are being asked to visit their GPs.

Impossible to get an appointment - ever. What's the point in having a blood test if you can't then get an appointment to discuss results with a doctor?

Service is okay when you are able to get appointment. It is very hard to get through and when you do all appointments are finished. I waited 9 months for physio referral.

Been with surgery 43 years, the GP/Nurse are very supportive and helpful. Always there to advice
