Hours spent trying to get through for routine

They need a better system for the phones

Telephone consultation only. I know of only

November 13, 2020
I had a telephone consultation. My symptoms were low temp of 35. Shivering and cold. No cough. No loss of smell. Vomiting when I eat. Nausea. Etc. If I have an infection these are my general symptoms. Go would not prescribe antibiotics but said it was a virus and asked me to go for a test. I did reluctantly because I didn’t feel well enough to drive. Test was as I expected negative.

2 hours + on the home 8th in the queue, get to 2nd and back to 8th again. Absolute joke. Had to pay to go private in the end and really can’t afford it.

Blood pressure test

November 13, 2020
Needed a routine blood pressure test as there was a note on my repeat prescription that it was overdue. Told by person on end of phone that it would be ok to submit my prescription without a blood pressure test being done. My prescription is for high blood pressure and during lockdown the pharmacy I use decided to switch one of my tablet brands (which I have had for several years) and I was experiencing side effects from the brand they supplied which I explained to the operator on the phone but she still said not to worry I could get my blood pressure done at a later date. Not good advice as my medication is for high blood pressure.

Too long waiting on the phones.

Over 2hrs between two phone calls just to get a phone appointment with a pharmacist employed by the surgery, given the wrong day to start with. I do not object to the pharmacist but I felt as though I was treated like a little kid who didn't know what my body needed. I would prefer to speak to a doctor, there seem to be a few employed by the surgery but you can never get an appointment even when you phone at 8am. Before all this Covid 19 it was difficult but now I don't bother asking for an appointment even though I'm in a lot of pain, I've given up.

Unable to be seen quickly.

Very often in a very long queue on the phone, when finally get through, you can't get an appointment and told to try again from 8 a.m. In the morning.

I'v had occasions of betting cut off, just as you get through.

But through the pandemic it is even worse. They are not open to see people unless they deem it necessary after your phone consultation.
I just keep putting everything off.

Why, when allegedly, NHS is to remain open and available for everyone, is it they are closed or too busy.
Is there too many patients on their books... I'm unsure. All I ever see and read are negative comments regarding Drs in Solihull, Shirley, egg etc.

Routine appointment shambles

October 22, 2020
Was told to email to get an appointment because that’s quicker yet still took 24 hours for my email to be answered

I was given an appointment the following day, email stated “tomorrow morning” which is a ridiculous time frame as that covers anything from 8am-11:59am and find it very hard to believe that a smaller time frame can’t be established

I’m then told on the phone that I need to get blood pressure taken in order to get a prescription - so why wasn’t I invited into the surgery?? A low risk quick time procedure, yet instead I’m told to go out to Solihull to get one and I can’t get a contraceptive pill prescription before then and then ring up with my results

1. Ringing up takes about 3 hours of your life away
2. “Popping out” isn’t easy when you work 2 jobs
3. If this is protocol why have two separate female doctors given me a pill prescription before hand with no issues
4. Why wasn’t this information given to me prior to the appointment so then I could have got the information ready

The standardisation of training is abysmal. The fact I have to go and get my blood pressure taken by a nurse but said nurse on the phone wouldn’t allow me to come to the surgery to get blood pressure taken is ridiculous

Such a simple appointment now made into such a huge inconvenience I can only imagine the disarray over the important appointments around the Solihull area

I am disappointed

October 21, 2020
I didn’t join my local surgery for it to close down indefinitely through a pandemic, waiting times to speak to receptionist awful, sometimes up to 50 in a queue and impossible to get face to face appointment, routine monitoring of basic medic needs impossible to get - was told by one doctor to go and get my own blood pressure machine

Never had an issue

October 21, 2020
I keep my expectations real and not expect an appointment available immediately and with that in mind and with patience for waiting to be connected, never had any issues in getting a timely appointment, blood test and other checkups. Very nice kind staff. They trying their best. Had video calls , phone calls with the doctors and also visited surgery for blood test. Very smooth and safe process.
