I was not listened to
Accident and emergency services

I attended the accident and emergency department and after a long wait I was seen by a doctor who I did not feel listened to me. I was told that they would look into my symptoms but nothing was done then, and nothing has been followed up from my attendance. I feel that I am not listened to because I have a mental health condition, and that my symptoms are not fully investigated because they are put down to mental health and anxiety problems.
Rheumatology department are excellent

I attend the rheumatology department on a regular basis and my experience has always been excellent. The facilities are bright and clean which is great too.

I have cancer and have been on a three month break from chemotherapy. I recently developed new symptoms so contacted my consultant at the QE. They called me back and discussed my symptoms with me and decided that it was best that I was seen as a matter of urgency. My appointment has been brought forward by over a month. I would normally go for scans and blood tests at Solihull hospital which is more local to me but the doctor explained that I could be seen quicker at the QE. Some appointments have been arranged for the same week but not the same day and I am hoping that these appointments can be rescheduled for the same day as I rely on family to bring me and even the journey in the car can be quite exhausting for me. Overall I am extremely happy with the quality of care I have received from the cancer services department at the QE.

I had a very good experience when attending the QE hospital. The staff were lovely and really put me at ease during my appointment.
Poor care and communication

During my sons treatment as an inpatient I believe the quality of care could have been better. They appeared to be short staffed, this having an affect on standards. Communication was poor and we were not well informed about what was happening regarding treatment and discharge. The food was awful. A renal care plan was put in place prior to discharge but no consideration was given to care at home once discharged.
2 cancelled operations in 5 years

I have been waiting for 5 years to have an operation on my wrist. The surgery has been cancelled twice and I am still waiting for a new date.
Personal care could have been better

I had a hip replacement operation at the QE following a fall. I was admitted for a total of 6 days. I was well looked after but the room I was staying in was really cold. I was very happy to get home and warm. Personal care could have been better. I was assisted to the toilet by two physiotherapists who were both male. I was very uncomfortable with this as they stayed in the room with me. Female staff should be available to assist female patients.

The treatment and care I have received for prostate cancer has been excellent. My life has been saved on more than one occasion. I have been well supported by the fantastic staff who have treated me with great kindness and care.
Great care but parking is awful here

I am very happy with the quality of care and service I receive here. My liver consultant is excellent. Parking is a major problem and a cause of stress when attending appointments. At my last appointment it took me over 30 minutes to find somewhere to park. I was very worried that I would be late for my appointment.
