Outstanding support through cancer treatment
Cancer services
January 13, 2023
Cancer treatment at Solihull's oncology department has been outstanding. Whilst having chemo the staff have been wonderful and supportive throughout the the process. I cannot fault the service and care I have received.
Long waiting time at my appointment
Outpatients
January 6, 2023
I went for endoscopy, I was there on time but I had to wait for 2 hours before being seen. It was not nice to sit there doing nothing with no one to talk to. I was not happy at all, they should manage their time well. We are all busy with things in life.
My medical record was lost by the hospital
Stroke services
December 12, 2022
The hospital lost my medical record, they did not communicate with my GP. My GP has no record on their system. I had to call them several times and it was just a nightmare.
Communication could improve
Outpatients
December 9, 2022
I wish the staff could communicate more clearly. It can be really hard to understand all those medical terms.
Outstanding care at the acute unit
Ear Nose and Throat
December 9, 2022
I was very unwell and got admitted to the hospital, I stayed for a week. All the staff were fantastic. The food was not the best but I am still happy and grateful to everyone.
Poor communication within services
Cancer services

The communication between hospital and GP is very poor. When I was admitted I took all my medical report with me but still the staff at the hospital were asking me for information. I kept telling them to check my files. It was very frustrating.
Waiting time for hip surgery
Outpatients
November 30, 2022
After waiting for 2 years before getting appointment for my hip surgery, I must say that the hospitals are really not performing well. There were not enough staff and I waited for 6 hours in the hospital before the surgery. Staff shortage meant that everything was going to be delayed on that day. It was a difficult experience.
All drop in centres have been closed
November 15, 2022
All drop-in centres have been closed except the one on Katie Road in Solihull.
There is nowhere to go on case of emergency or urgent care apart from A&E.
The drop in was good because it provided out of hours service and weekend service. You know you could visit them with your health concern, and they would put your mind at rest.
It was just nice to visit a health professional and to get reassurance for a health issue that you might have been worried about.

Dental service at the hospital was great.
November 15, 2022
In August 2022, I took my grandaughter 14 years old to have braces done and to have additional tooth removed through the dental service at the hospital through an operation.
She didn't have to wait long as she had an appointment.
After the operation, they assessed how she got on.
Staff were polite and very helpful.
They gave information and explained very process.
She is booked in again for a review appointment.

Signed off from care and no aftercare
November 15, 2022
I had pneumonia at some point but was treated as chest infection by the Birmingham doctors about 3 years ago.
I was referred by the GP to the respiratory department with my lungs.
My first appointment took place in 2020.
I had my follow up at the hospital in 2021.
When I saw them, I was signed off from their care with them stating that nothing can be done regarding my condition.
Communication was not great from the hospital. No information was provided or direction on what was to happen next.
I should have had some aftercare which was never provided.
