Chester Road Surgery

The surgery feels quite different since one of their doctors retired. They had been my doctor for a number of years, and since they have left the service is not as personal as it was. I now see different doctors every time I attend. It can be difficult at times to get an appointment. Recently I was suffering with a gout and it took me a few separate calls throughout the day before finally getting an appointment. I was seen and treated that day. Overall the service is still quite good.

My experience is always great. I have never had a problem getting an appointment with a doctor. The doctors are lovely.

I find it quite easy to get an appointment. I find the receptionists friendly and helpful, and the doctors are great. I've never had any problems there.

The surgery has been very good with my ongoing health problems. Referrals have been made promptly. I find them generally good, I attend regularly for diabetic checks and the nurses are wonderful. I have always received good continuity of care but recently my GP retired so the personal levels of care I previously received has now ended. I am hoping that I get to know a new doctor and have the same level of care. One problem that I do feel needs to be addressed is that you can only discuss one issue. On one day I was attending about one problem and wanted to discuss how I was experiencing excessive tiredness and exhaustion. I was told that I was nearing the 15 minute time limit and that I would have to book another appointment. I got another appointment for later that day but this meant that I had to pay for transport for two visits to the doctors on the same day. I budget accordingly to pay for taxi's to the GP because of my poor health but it seemed quite unreasonable that I could not just mention this to the doctor whilst already at an appointment.

I have noticed an improvement in care provided since a doctor retired from practice. It is still difficult to get an appointment and on occasions I have had to seek GP services via the Badger service at Heartlands hospital because I could not see a doctor at the surgery.

Takes forever for the phone to be answered, then it’s the 3rd degree from receptionist. So if you’re lucky you might get an appointment, or they’ll ask do you want to go to bosworth. No, this has been my doctors since covid this surgery is a joke.

I attend regularly for medication reviews and repeat prescriptions. I'm sometimes sent to Bosworth Medical Centre since they have joined. I find the staff very accommodating and overall I receive a good service that I'm more than happy with.

I have always found Chester Road surgery to be excellent but I am concerned about the merger with Bosworth Medical Centre. I don't want to be sent to Bosworth due to privacy relating to my profession but sometimes I have no choice which is disappointing.

Repeated visits complaining of persistent pain. No referral done and after a few months of complaints I ended up being rushed into hospital for surgery.

I've been given a telephone appointment with a GP but on one occasion missed the call due to being in the toilet. I made attempts to call the surgery straight back but could not get through because the lines were busy. The doctor didn't call me back. If GPs are going to continue with telephone appointments they should be calling patients back.
