Marie Curie Hospice West Midlands

Marie Curie provided marvellous palliative care. It was a fight to get my wife into the care of the hospice which was stressful, but it was worth it. The staff were wonderful at such a difficult time, and a real support to my wife and our family when she passed away.

My wife was receiving care at home through the community nursing team which was organised with the help of Marie Curie Hospice. We were very suddenly told that this service was being withdrawn. It was the weekend and I was very concerned as I could not care for my wife on my own and make sure she was comfortable and not in pain. I contacted Marie Curie and a member of their nursing team came out and cared for my wife that weekend during her own time. I cannot express my gratitude enough. I do not know how we would have coped without her. Marie Curie helped me get the home care reinstated. The care they provide is outstanding and their staff at all levels care and provide the best service possible.

It was a great comfort to me that my wife passed away in a comfortable and peaceful environment completely free from pain. I cannot thank the staff enough for the excellent care they provided.

My experience with Marie Curie Hospice has been second to none! My only concern was that it was very difficult to get a bed here. It is such a shame that this great service is not funning to full capacity when demand is so high. It's a shame that great services like this are struggling with funding and has to rely on charitable donations. The care they provide is outstanding, and the support they gave me and my family was much needed. It made a hard time a little easier to manage.

Cannot fault the place. They have just been great. Took great care of my late wife and have been a great source of support to me since her passing. The volunteers who put the Men's Shed on are doing a cracking job, in giving us a space to get together, make friends and put the world to right.

I am astounded at the difference in care at Marie Curie Hospice compared with end of life care in a hospital. I have been unfortunate to lose loved ones in both settings and the care and support provided at Marie Curie Hospice is far superior. Care is more personalised, and there is more support available to the patient and their families. It really is a beautiful and peaceful setting.
