Chelmunds Court

My elderly relative was not looked after well here. They have ended up in hospital with sepsis from a Grade 3 bedsore. They had been unwell for a week and the staff did nothing. The overall care here was not good, my relative was not washed or kept clean. My relative was unable to feed themselves but they would not assist them. They did not encourage them to be mobile and use their walking frame which resulted in a decline in their mobility. Communication between staff and their residents is poor my relative was concerned they had broken their neck and the staff were adamant that they were saying they had broken a nail which was incorrect.

I really like it here, I get on with the staff and they help me do the things I enjoy. I used to work in a care home and I like to help where I can. I even have a uniform so that when I feel like getting involved I really feel like a part of the team. I'm very active and I like to encourage my peers to get involved and do light exercises. I feel happy and liked and I'm treated well.

My relative was recently moved here due to her care home being shut down by the CQC. It has been a very distressing time for our family but we are really impressed by the staff and the care they show. They are very accommodating and have made adjustments to keep my relative happy. They have changed her room, ordered more suitable equipment for her to keep her comfortable, they really can't do enough for us. It has been fantastic.

The staff are excellent in containing any outbreaks of flu and covid. Families are kept well informed about changes to visiting etc but residents are still allowed visitors using correct PPE. I think they have handled difficult situations very well preventing the spread and minimising the impact on other residents and visitors.

The care here is fantastic. I am happy with how my relative is cared for and treated by the staff. There are regular family meetings which we are invited to attend which is an opportunity to staff to go over the running of the care home and to keep us updated on training, events and activities. If family ever want to discuss the care and/or needs of our relative senior members of staff are always on hand to speak with us including the Manager. Leaving a loved one in the care of others is difficult but I really do see how dedicated and caring the staff are to residents here.

I'm quite happy here. The staff are lovely, very kind and helpful. I enjoy the activities and like getting involved. The food is nice.

I'm very happy here, I enjoy the main room where I can socialise with my friends. We have fun and a good giggle. The staff are lovely.

I am very happy here, most definitely! The vicar visits me which I like. I am bedbound but I am happy, I have a lovely view into the courtyard. I do sometimes have dinner in the main room which is nice because I do sometimes feel a little bit lonely because I miss my friend who used to live here, she would come and have dinner with me. Yesterday I had my hair done and had dinner in the main room. The staff always encourage me but I always feel like I have a choice. The meals are ok and I always tell them I want more mushrooms. I have no complaints about living here.
