Good care but phonelines are a problem

They are really good in terms of 1 to 1 care and the doctors are good but the phonelines are a real problem.
Problems with repeat prescriptions

I have problems getting appointments and I have problems with my prescriptions. I was lucky today and managed to get an appointment, but not at my surgery. They have been helpful and rectified the problem with the repeat prescription.
This surgery is a nightmare!

I find the service at Shirley Medical Centre a nightmare. It's very hard to get an appointment. I cannot get through on the telephone. It's difficult to try and book appointments when you work, and really the whole process is down to luck.
Atrocious service

The GPs are fine but the admin team and receptionists are utterly useless! They are rude, unprofessional, patronising and worryingly uncaring. They have lost medical records and do not listen when I explain the problem but just keep telling me to wait for results even though the results have been sent through. They also expect me to do the chasing and investigating by calling hospitals and service providers which I have done in the past out of sheer desperation to get my results. I am often stuck in limbo because they won’t pick up the phone and ask for missing information even though I have been told it has been sent to them. I don’t think they could be any worse at their jobs if they tried. It is an unacceptable service.
Difficult to contact doctor

The doctor I saw here was good but I have struggled to contact that same doctor since.
Can't get appointments and not listened to

They are awful. I can't get appointments here and they don't listen to me. The 'care navigators' are useless and don't listen to your concerns.
Impossible to get an appointment

Whenever you phone the appointments are gone. As for evening appointments they do not exist. The idea of an out of hours service was watered down so that the group of surgeries avoided providing this service and only a very few appointments are offered at one of the surgeries
Lack of continuity of care

I like to see the same doctor who knows me and my medical history. I do not like having to keep repeating my story to different healthcare professionals. It wastes time during time limited appointments. When I book appointments they try to send me to other SHP surgeries. I refuse, as it is not convenient, and it is not easy to get to the other surgeries when I live close to my own surgery.
Tried their hardest to help me

I feel as if they tried their hardest to help me but there wasn't much they could do. I was also often seen at different surgeries within SHP and had to explain my condition to different doctors each time.
