“I found my place of belonging”

Lawrena Ansah Mensah

After many years of living outside of the UK and experiencing discrimination for just being a black person, not just being a black woman but also a mother. I felt I was never going to be in the position that I deserved, I worked long hours and yet I was the last one considered for promotion.

I moved to the UK 7 years ago, and my life has changed dramatically. I have been promoted to manager position. I have had positive experiences working in hospitality, health and social care and retail. I completed my foundation degree in Health and Social Care, and I am currently doing a year top-up for BSCH degree. The UK is a place where I have thrived, and my children will benefit from this welcoming and amazing country.
