Follow up after test

My consultant sent letter to my GP with details of my recent test and requested a FIT test be arranged and results sent back. I had to call the surgery to request FIT test and call again for results despite the test saying GP would contact me. There have been no appointments to discuss just told that they were negative results by receptionist. I had to call back again to check they had notified my hospital consultant. Wasted my time contacting surgery. They also wasted the receptionist’s time because the consultant’s letter had not been read! I could see the test result on the NHS app so why the simple task of forwarding the test result directly to the hospital consultant or me sending it could not be done is so inefficient. They are wasting the doctor's time too.
