Recent changes to the Birmingham and Solihull ICS leadership

There have been several leadership announcements in Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System (ICS), with news of two departures, the announcement of a new arrival, and staff moving to different posts in the system.

Professor David Rosser, currently Chief Executive of University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB), will take up the new post of Strategic Director for Digital Health & Care from January 2023. In David’s new regional role, he will work with the West Midlands Combined Authority, academic institutions, local authorities and the local health and care system.

Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Chief Executive, Sarah-Jane Marsh, has been appointed as the National Director of Urgent and Emergency Care and Deputy Chief Operating Officer of the NHS.

Bernadette Hanney is the new independent Chair appointed to strengthen quality improvement in maternity services, reinforcing our commitment to ensure that every baby has the best possible start to life.

Harry Reilly, currently Interim Chair of University Hospitals Birmingham, has stepped down from his role on 30th November, due to his extensive international work commitments, and Dame Yve Buckland will be joining UHB as their new Interim Chair.

Patrick Vernon, who is currently the Non-executive Director for Inequalities and Vice-Chair at NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board (ICB), will become Interim Chair of the ICB.
